The Murderbot Diaries is a series of novellas (and now two novels) by Martha Wells, which I recently discovered at my local library.
In The Murderbot Diaries Martha Wells explores the future of humanity, robots, and the moral dilemmas of that future view from the standpoint of the robot. This interesting twist lets her explore the good and bad of humanity from without.
The series ends up being an interesting combination of ideas already explored by Asimov, The Terminator movies, and Blade Runner. But in her exploration, Martha Wells has come up with a completely new and extremely interesting way of looking at humanity's many flaws.
At times funny, disturbing, and enlightening, The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells is a series that should be added to any robot sci-fi fan's must-read list.
